Charge by Induction (Induction Spheres) (5A40.10)

Description:

Two metal spheres on insulated stands are touching each other. A charged rod is brought near one sphere which induces the opposite charge on the same sphere. Because the two conducting spheres are in contact, the second sphere has an induced charge opposite to the first sphere, i.e. the same polarity as the original charged rod. Thesecond conducting sphere is then moved away and touched to the electroscope.
