Boom and Weight (1J30.40)

Description:

A long horizontal boom is hinged at one end and supported by a cable at the other end. A large spring scale measures the force on the cable. Weights can be hung along the boom and the spring scale shows the resulting tension in the cable.


Procedure or Operation Notes:

The boom itself is 60 inches long and weighs 5 pounds.

When empty, the scale reads 9.5 pounds. With a 5 pound weight at the far end, the scale reads 28 pounds.
